A Sunday
but the kids find it hysterical.
Hello All,
With 27 days left in this writing challenge, today's post will be brief. Sundays in our home are low-tech days—a time to disconnect from screens and reconnect with each other.
Our Sunday routine is simple: Coffee, Church, Lunch, then some form of family bonding—be it board games, crafts, or a good movie. Lately, we've been diving into the enchanting world of Studio Ghibli. Today, we watched The Cat Returns. It's not my favorite, but the kids find it hysterical.
"Always believe in yourself. Do this and no matter where you are, you will have nothing to fear."
— The Cat Returns
There's something magical about these films that captures our imagination. My oldest desired to run through the lush green fields vividly depicted in the animation. These small moments make Sundays special—time slows down, and We enjoy each other. I get to share bits of my childhood.
We also use Sundays for a family check-in, a ritual that helps us connect on a deeper level. My wife and I assembled a set of questions to ask our kids a while ago. It's a chance to hear their thoughts and feelings about the week.
Here's a peek at the questions we ask:
What is one thing you enjoyed this week (your high)?
What was challenging for you this week (your low)?
How would you rate our ability to have fun as a family? (Good, OK, or Needs Improvement)
How would you rate our quality time? Which parent do you wish to spend more time with? Both or individually?
These simple questions often lead to fun conversations and laughs, but I'll comment on that later.
These Sundays are about more than just relaxing; they're about creating soulful moments that bind us together as a family. It's a day to step back from the hustle of daily life and focus on what truly matters.
And before I go, if you're aiming for a low-tech activity, check out this fantastic site for creative ways to connect with your kids.
"Whenever someone creates something with all of their heart, then that creation is given a soul."
